All of our honey is either raw honey or unpasteurized to preserve all the good vitamins & minerals it contains. Honey is naturally anti-bacterial so it never goes bad. IN the grocery stores much of the honey is from global markets & the honey is either in small quantity and then additives like corn syrup are added r you may find that the bottle contains honey from 2 or 3 different countries all mixed together. If you are skeptical of this claim just go ahead and scan the barcode and put it in google it will tell you exactly where the honey comes from. For a lot of our products in the grocery stores it is buyer beware but the worst culprit is honey products.
What is the difference between raw honey, unpasteurized honey or pasteurized honey?
Raw Honey is honey that has been removed from the combs without using any heat aat all thereby preserving all the good nutrients in the honey. All we do if filter it from impurities.
Unpasteurized Honey is honey that uses a temporary heat to get the honey to go through the honey processing equipment. Honey crystalizes over time and for that reason we need to warm it up but we warm it up to 90 degrees for a short period of time. This preserves most of the nutrients in the honey.
Pasteurized honey is honey that has been heated at high heat to make the honey smoother, kill any natural yeast in the honey however, this also kills all the good nutrients of the honey.
You will be pleased to know that for this reason Olson Pure Honey only makes raw or unpasteurized honey. You can be assured you are getting excellent honey products at our honey store.
